Position Overview

A Senior Experience Designer at Autodesk you will work as part of cross-disciplinary agile teams building capabilities to enable Engineers to solve some of the most complex problems of the world by helping them design, model, fabricate, and eventually build the structural systems that support roads and highways, rail, bridges and tunnels, and water systems of the future.

Reporting to a Senior Manager, Experience Design, you will focus on designing workflows and interactions and relies on frequent interaction with our users to understand how they are working and how they feel about our in-progress solutions. A secondary focus for this position is creating learning experiences that concentrate on integrated messaging.

You will support content that guides our customers and helps them gain the knowledge and confidence to expand their use of our complex software.

Responsibilities

  • Design workflows, interactions, and interfaces with varying levels of fidelity to communicate with peers, stakeholders, and customers (60%); write content (20%); and explore content strategies (20%)

  • Plan, write, and edit content from concept to delivery to make user experiences simple, clear, and easy to use

  • Lead customer interaction in many forms, from interviews to sprint demos to usability testing

  • Use customer insights that come from analytics and customer interactions to help inform business and design decisions

  • Work with and participating in scrum team processes, working iteratively to deliver customer value

  • Maintain familiarity with Civil 3D and other Autodesk software to ensure compatibility with capabilities and services shared across our portfolio

  • Work with a team of peer designers to help expand the positive impact of the experience design discipline at the team and company levels

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience doing UX/XD, HCI, or interaction design

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with development teams and product managers to deliver usable and desired value to customers.

  • Demonstrated examples in leading cross-functional teams in problem definition and analysis, understanding customer workflows, and creating prototypes that solve complex customer problems.

  • A portfolio of work that shows a range of content you've created, such as interaction flows, UX writing, product tours, and help documentation.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, and set priorities with direction and/or feedback from stakeholders and teammates.

  • Experience with design support tools such as Figma, Sketch, Mural, Miro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, Balsamiq, or similar.

  • Passion for growing skills in research, experimentation, brainstorming, conceptualization, prototyping, iteration, and testing.

  • Up-to-date expertise in human-centered design best practices including user research methods such as user interviews and usability testing.

  • Ability to solve complex problems and drive projects from concept to implementation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in interaction design or a related field.

  • Knowledge of creating cloud-based service experiences, including resiliency best practices.

  • Knowledge of Architecture, Construction, and Engineering workflows, particularly those related to Civil Engineering.

  • Knowledge of Autodesk software or equivalent software.

  • Demonstrated ability in using customer research and feedback as the basis for design decisions.

  • Experience with Agile/Lean software design and development practices.

  • Knowledge of applying computational strategies, machine learning and artificial intelligence to the product design process.
